UN’ORDA DI COSTRUTTORI DI IMMAGINARI

[ITA]
A prestissimo.

A HORDE OF IMAGINARY BUILDERS

Let’s get out of the silence of these months on May 1st: this date is dense for us with a symbolic value that we also want to be a reflection on this particular moment in our history.
Our imaginaries have already seen all that we live: from the great epic of the Eternauta onwards, where the metaphor of the invisible invasion was a prediction of the fascism that was about to take possession of the world. We have already lived, by reading and drawing, stories of gated societies, of totalitarian castes and pockets of desperate resistance don’t giving up fighting. We have seen deserts and mountains and multilevel cities. Rebels in recycled bicycles and broken-down spaceships on the edge of the galaxy. And we have seen and we know clearly that the destruction of this human world starts from that of the environment, an extermination that the capital determines with coldness calculation and brutality. The virus is a side effect of a status that is still developing, and will continue to develop, other forms of mass destruction if we don’t find a way to stop this process.
We have seen that this virus does not leave us all and all in the same boat: the romantic quarantine can be afforded in their estates always by the same one percent whose wealth forces our quarantine in a 3×3 mt rented room. We cannot be afraid to go out and touch each other, to know each other: we are sweat and sleepless nights to work, we are creation and print. Fatigue is not for us: we are always ready to dance until the following morning. It doesn’t make much sense to survive in a world where freedom and art are relegated to memories and over the air. Surviving is not for us. The festivals we create are ultra-places of contamination where situations and collectivities set in motion creative ideas and processes.
We are a horde of imaginary builders. There is no support for survival now for those who work in creative fields, whether they are inventors of works of art or of photocopied zines or made with the most refined printing techniques. There is no support because, while we see and draw everything, we are simply out of the standpoint of capital that does not want and cannot see us. We are out of any target. We are not a category, we are a world that has not silently absorbed the proposed life models. We dug others, amid a thousand difficulties, between fake and odd jobs, between submerged and black jobs. But above all we decided not to work at all if it was possible, to design self-productions without editor or publisher.
And for this reasons we have shaped a network, a net that is not virtual but tangible, concrete, made up of lives that meet and share. The network of self-production festivals, this circus of dwarfs, freaks and intersectional mutants, who decide on their bodies and their sexes as their way of creating things. Radicals that come from many different margins. A horizontal, self-convoked, self-managed, self-funded, supportive and internationalist network. And now that reality rejects us even more, forcing us into separations, closing our eyes, we feel that it is time to go out into the open field, to network for once without any protective net.
Our festivals are not able to be held this year. Movement is not allowed, or it will be very difficult, the contact that allows us to share and reinvent is not allowed, space is constrained: the medicine they show us to cure our illness continues to produce other greater illnesses. And without these spaces relationships do not exist, nor is possible for contaminations to arise: this is the compost on which to set communities and creative processes in motion. There is only control over desertificated spaces on which only the headlights of social media and control apps remain on. That is the capital of the platforms, the only global winner of this segregation. Some of our festivals are an integral part of squats, real places for this network, but not just this. The Forte Prenestino CSOA, the Scugnizzo Liberato, Xm 24, the ex-Caserma Liberata, Macao, are free, unique and indispensable spaces, they are those places where many of us have found a group, a home, lived unimaginable experiences, rejoiced and fought, are irreplaceable spaces and the only future we imagine is a future in which they RESIST AND MULTIPLY.
So?
Then we have to find other forms, other ways to take back what we have built independently, with patience and without asking anyone for permission. We think that this network can be a concrete support for all these political projects, autonomous and made up of impregnable figures.
Each city is a garrison for self-production, for our crooked beauty. Each festival promotes molecular self-publishing. But this is the moment of an even wider opening, contamination, mixture with other realities. Individual and collective realities, festivals, events, booksellers, music labels, stray splinters, lonely fools. Joining imaginary revolt cells.
It is time to propose a pact for this circus, this mutant sideshow, to put around our eaters of swords and pencils, our fakirs of thumbtacks, our contortionists of the sheets of paper.
Today we are opening a window and a perspective. Substantial and real though. A practice. We have a plan, or at least the beginning of a plan. Let’s go back soon to tell it, to understand how we can do it and how our invisible fascinating drawn goods will return to the cities, to the streets, on the walls.
We need everyone.
Take a hit you know how to find us.
See you soon.
